1120 — White Ship disaster
The White Ship (French: la Blanche-Nef; Medieval Latin: Candida navis) was a vessel transporting many nobles, including the heir to the English throne, that sank in the English Channel near the Normandy coast off Barfleur during a trip from France to England on 25 November 1120. Out of approximately 300 people aboard, only one – a butcher from Rouen – survived.

1177 — Battle of Montgisard
The Battle of Montgisard was fought between the Ayyubids and the Kingdom of Jerusalem on November 25, 1177. The 16-year-old King Baldwin IV, seriously afflicted by leprosy, led an out-numbered Christian force against the army of Saladin. The Arab force was routed and their casualties were massive, and only a fraction managed to flee to safety.

1491 — Treaty of Granada (1491)
The Treaty of Granada, also known as the Surrender of Granada or the Capitulations, was signed and ratified on November 25, 1491, between Boabdil, the sultan of Granada, and Ferdinand and Isabella, the King and Queen of Castile, León, Aragon, and Sicily. It ended the Granada War, which had started in 1482 and culminated in the siege and battle of Granada, which began in spring 1491.

1759 — Battle of Chinsurah
The Battle of Chinsurah (also known as the Battle of Biderra) took place near Chinsurah, India on 25 November 1759 during the Seven Years' War between a force of British troops mainly of the British East India Company and a force of the Dutch East India Company which had been invited by the Nawab of Bengal Mir Jafar to help him eject the British and establish themselves as the leading commercial company in Bengal. Despite Britain and the Dutch Republic not formally being at war, the Dutch advanced up the Hooghly River. They met a mixed force of British and local troops at Chinsurah, just outside Calcutta.

The Capture of Oaxaca was a battle during the War of Mexican Independence that occurred on 25 November 1812 at Oaxaca, Oaxaca. It was fought between the royalist forces loyal to the Spanish crown, commanded by General Antonio Pío González-Saravia Mollinedo, and the Mexican insurgents fighting for independence from the Spanish Empire, commanded by José María Morelos y Pavón. The battle resulted in a victory for the Mexican insurgents.

1837 — Battle of Saint-Charles
The Battle of Saint-Charles was fought on November 25, 1837 between Great Britain and Patriote rebels. The British were victorious. On the morning of 25 November 1837, 2 days after Charles Gore's defeat at the Battle of Saint-Denis and the retreat to Sorel the troops of Colonel George Wetherall about 420 regulars (from the 1st and 66th Regiments of Foot), left St-Hilaire and marched on the camp at St-Charles. The camp was at that time defended by some 80 men of the parish of St-Charles and others. As they approached, the soldiers exchanged gunfire with small groups of combatants.

1863 — Battle of Opatów (1863)
The First Battle of Opatow, one of many clashes of the January Uprising, took place on November 25, 1863, in the town of Opatow, which at that time belonged to Russian-controlled Congress Poland. A party of 210 Polish rebels, commanded by Józef Hauke-Bosak, managed to temporarily capture the town, which was defended by a 180-strong garrison of the Imperial Russian Army. Polish rebels took advantage of the fact that main Russian forces had left Opatow, to chase rebel units operating near the town of Ilza. Hauke-Bossak ordered an attack from three sides. Weak Russian garrison was unable to defend the town, and was pushed out of Opatow.

1864 — First Battle of Adobe Walls
The First Battle of Adobe Walls was a battle between the United States Army and American Indians. The Kiowa, Comanche and Plains Apache (Kiowa Apache) tribes drove from the battlefield a United States Expeditionary Force that was reacting to attacks on white settlers moving into the Southwest. The battle, on November 25, 1864, resulted in light casualties on both sides but was one of the largest engagements fought on the Great Plains.

The November 1882 Preston by-election was held on 25 November 1882, following the resignation of the incumbent Conservative MP Henry Cecil Raikes. While multiple candidates stood in the by-election both candidates were members of the Conservative Party. The seat was won by William Tomlinson, although the loser, Robert William Hanbury, would go on to be elected as the second member at the 1885 General Election.

The battle took place on November 25, 1899, between British forces led by Lord Methuen and Boers led by Koos de la Rey. After the Battle of Belmont, Lord Methuen's force advanced up the railway in armored trains.

1917 — Battle of Ngomano
The Battle of Ngomano or Negomano was fought between the German Empire and Portugal during the East African Campaign of World War I. A force of Germans and Askaris under Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck had just won a costly victory against the British at the Battle of Mahiwa, in present-day Tanzania and ran very short of supplies. To find food, the Germans invaded Portuguese East Africa to the south, to escape superior British forces to the north and supply themselves with captured Portuguese materiel. Portugal was part of the Entente and a belligerent, employing troops in France and a force under Major João Teixeira Pinto was sent to stop von Lettow-Vorbeck from crossing the border.

1942 — Operation Harling
Operation Harling, also known as the Battle of Gorgopotamos (Greek: Μάχη του Γοργοπόταμου) in Greece, was a World War II mission by the British Special Operations Executive (SOE), in cooperation with the Greek Resistance groups EDES and ELAS, which destroyed the heavily guarded Gorgopotamos viaduct in Central Greece on 25 November 1942. This was one of the first major sabotage acts in Axis-occupied Europe, and the beginning of a permanent British involvement with the Greek Resistance.

1945 — Austrian legislative election, 1945
The elections to the Austrian National Council held on 25 November 1945 were the first after World War II. The elections were held according to the Austrian election law of 1929, with all citizens at least 21 years old eligible to vote, however former Nazis were banned from voting, official sources putting their numbers at around 200,000. The Communist Party of Austria only gained four seats, which some blamed on the conduct of the Red Army in the Soviet occupied zone of Austria. This was highly embarrassing for the Communists, who had assured the Soviets that they could win as much as 30 percent of the vote.

1953 — Sudanese parliamentary election, 1953
Parliamentary elections were held in Sudan on 2 and 25 November 1953, prior to the implementation of home rule. The result was a victory for the National Unionist Party, which won 51 of the 97 seats in Parliament. The NUP also obtained a majority in the Senate, where they won 21 of the 30 indirectly elected seats (elected by local and provincial councils) and 10 of the 20 members were nominated to the Senate by the British Governor-General. Although the Umma Party and some of the British press alleged that Egypt had interfered in the election, it was generally seen as free and fair.

1962 — French legislative election, 1962
French legislative elections took place on 18 November and 25 November 1962 to elect the second National Assembly of the Fifth Republic. Since 1959 and the change of Algerian policy (Charles de Gaulle decided in favour of the "self-government" and "Algerian Algeria"), France had faced bomb attacks by the Secret Armed Organization (Organisation armée secrète or OAS) which opposed the independence of Algeria, negotiated by the FLN with the March 1962 Evian agreements and approved by referendum by the French people. This policy was disapproved by some members of the "Presidential Majority".

1965 — Northern Ireland general election, 1965
The Northern Ireland general election, 1965 was held on 25 November 1965. Like all previous elections to the Parliament of Northern Ireland, it produced a large majority for the Ulster Unionist Party. This was the last election in Northern Ireland in which one party won a majority of the vote. The Ulster Unionists increased their vote share largely due to a reduction in the number of uncontested seats, but also picked up two additional seats. Similarly, the Nationalist vote share decreased largely due to more of the seats in which they stood candidates being contested.

1965 — Second Mobutu coup d'état
The second Mobutu coup d'état, launched on November 25, 1965, was a successful coup attempt in the Republic of the Congo (Léopoldville) by General Joseph Mobutu which overthrew President Joseph Kasa-Vubu and Prime Minister Evariste Kimba. The coup was caused by the political impasse between President Kasa-Vubu and Moïse Tshombe, which threatened to develop into a violent confrontation and destabilize the country even further.

Half-senate elections were held in Australia on 25 November 1967. There was no accompanying election to the House of Representatives as the two election cycles had been out of synchronisation since 1963. The results were a setback for the government of Harold Holt. Having won a landslide victory the previous year, the Coalition instead lost two seats in the Senate. The Australian Labor Party failed to make any gains; the Democratic Labor Party gained two seats would hold the balance of power until 1974.

1975 — Coup of 25 November 1975
The Coup of 25 November 1975 (usually referred to as the 25 de Novembro in Portugal) was a failed military coup against the post-Carnation Revolution governing bodies of Portugal. This attempt was carried out by Portuguese communists and other left-wing activists, who hoped to halt the Portuguese transition to democracy in favor of a Communist system. Vasco Gonçalves, the previous Prime Minister, from July 1974 to September 1975, later described the coup as a "provocation" organised by the sixth provisional government, saying that the government had ordered the paratroopers to bomb the occupied Rádio Renascença.

The 1985 Soviet Air Force Antonov An-12 shoot down occurred on November 25, 1985, in Angola during the Angolan Civil War and South African Border War. An Aeroflot Antonov An-12BP cargo aircraft operated by the Soviet Air Force flying from Cuito Cuanavale to Luanda was shot down, allegedly by South African Special Forces, and crashed approximately 43 kilometres (27 mi) east of Menongue in Angola's Cuando Cubango province.

W.A.K.O. World Championships 2001 were the joint thirteenth world kickboxing championships (the other was held earlier that year in Maribor, Slovenia) hosted by the W.A.K.O. organization. It was the second championships to be held in Serbia and Montenegro (the Europeans had been held here back in 1996) and was open to amateur men and women across the world. There were three styles on offer at Belgrade; Full-Contact, Low-Kick (men only) and Thai-Boxing (men only). The other typical styles, Semi Contact, Musical Forms etc., had taken place at the sister event in Maribor.

A by-election was held on 25 November 2010 in the Donegal South-West constituency in Ireland, following the election of the Fianna Fáil Teachta Dála (TD) Pat the Cope Gallagher to the European Parliament at the June 2009 election. Most voters cast their ballot on 25 November 2010; 754 voters on offshore islands (Arranmore, Tory, Inishbofin, Gola, and Inishfree) were entitled to cast their ballots on 22 November. The government through a vote in the parliament decides when by-elections are called. With a rather tenuous majority in the parliament, the government had delayed in calling this by-election.

2011 — Shayrat and Tiyas airbase ambush
The Shayrat and Tiyas airbase ambush was an armed attack on a Syrian Air Force base in Homs Governorate by the Free Syrian Army on 25 November 2011, during the 2011-2012 Syrian uprising. As the Syrian government banned foreign journalists from entering the state, the exact location of the attack is unknown, although it is believed to have been at a military airbase in Homs Province between Homs and Palmyra, possible at the military airfield at 34°31′30″N 37°37′22″E / 34.52500°N 37.62278°E. Ten Syrian Air Force personnel were killed.
