1180 — Battle of Uji (1180)
The First Battle of Uji (宇治平等院の戦い, Uji Byōdō-in no Tatakai), alternatively known as "Mochihitos Raising of an Army" in Japan is a battle which took place on June 20, 1180, following Prince Mochihito and Minamoto no Yorimasa's plan to raise an army to overthrow the Taira clan and the issuing of an edict urging the Minamoto clan, major temples, and shrines in the country to revolt.

The Battle of Höchst (20 June 1622) was fought between a combined Catholic League army led by Johan Tzerclaes, Count of Tilly and Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba and a Protestant army commanded by Christian the Younger, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg. The result was a one-sided Catholic League victory. Höchst is a district within the city of Frankfurt, Germany. The action occurred during the Thirty Years' War.

1707 — Battle of Jajau
The Battle of Jajau was fought between the two Mughal princes and brothers Bahadur Shah I and Muhammad Azam Shah on 20 June 1707. In 1707, their father Aurangzeb died without having declared a successor; instead leaving a will in which he instructed his sons to divide the kingdom between themselves. Their failure to reach a satisfactory agreement led to a military conflict. After Azam Shah and his three sons were killed in the Battle of Jajau, Bahadur Shah was crowned as the Mughal emperor on 19 June 1707 at the age of 63.

1780 — Battle of Ramsour's Mill
The Battle of Ramsour's Mill took place on June 20, 1780 in present-day Lincolnton, North Carolina, during the British campaign to gain control of the southern colonies in the American Revolutionary War. The number of fighters on each side of the battle is still an issue of contention, but Loyalist militiamen (many of them German Palatine emigrants and settlers in the local area) outnumbered Patriot militia and had captured a group of Patriots who they were planning to hang on the morning of June 20.

1799 — Second Battle of Marengo
The Second Battle of Marengo or Battle of Cascina Grossa (20 June 1799) saw French troops under General of Division Jean Victor Marie Moreau clash with a force of Austrian soldiers led by Feldmarschall-Leutnant Heinrich von Bellegarde. The early fighting between Emmanuel Grouchy's division and Bellegarde was inconclusive. However, late in the day Moreau committed Paul Grenier's French division to the struggle and the Austrians were driven from the field.

1863 — Battle of Komorów
The Battle of Komorow, one of many clashes of the January Uprising, took place on June 20, 1863, near the village of Komorow (now Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship), which at that time belonged to Russian-controlled Congress Poland. An insurgent unit under Zygmunt Jordan clashed with a detachment of the Imperial Russian Army. The battle ended in Russian victory. On June 20, 1863, insurgent unit of Zygmunt Jordan crossed the Vistula, the river which marked the border between Austrian Galicia and Congress Poland. Polish insurgents were divided into two columns. One was attacked by Russian infantry near the village of Gace.

The Siamese coup d’état of June 1933 (Thai: รัฐประหาร 20 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2476) took place peacefully on 20 June 1933 in Bangkok and was led was led by Army Colonel Phraya Phahonphonphayuhasena (Phraya Phahon) against the administration of Phraya Manopakorn Nitithada (Phraya Mano). The coup was in fact a counter-coup against the dictatorial policies of Phraya Mano, stemming from his resentment of a proposal by Pridi Banomyong, the progressive leader of the Khana Ratsadon which Phahon was a member of, to reform Thailand's economy.

1943 — Detroit race riot of 1943
The Detroit race riot broke out in Detroit, Michigan, in June 1943, and lasted for three days before thousands of Federal troops were called in to establish control. It occurred in a period of dramatic population increase associated with the military buildup as Detroit's auto industry was converted to the war effort; nearly 400,000 migrants, both African American and European American, came from the Southeastern United States from 1941 to 1943 and were competing for jobs and housing in an already crowded city, both between each other and with foreign immigrants.

1973 — Ezeiza massacre
The Ezeiza massacre (Spanish pronunciation: [eˈseisa]) took place on June 20, 1973 near the Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Peronist masses, including many young people, had gathered there to acclaim Juan Perón's definitive return from an 18-year exile in Spain. The police estimated three and a half million people. In his plane, Perón was accompanied by El Tío ("Uncle") president Héctor Cámpora, representative of the Peronists' left wing, who had come to power on May 25, 1973, amid popular euphoria and a period of political turmoil. Cámpora was opposed to the Peronist right wing, declaring during his first speech that "the spilled blood will not be negotiated".

General elections were held in Italy on June 20, 1976. They were the first after the voting age was lowered to 18. If Christian Democracy remained stable with around 38% of votes, Enrico Berlinguer's Italian Communist Party made a great jump winning 7 points more than four years before: this result, which was quite homogeneous in the entire society because confirmed by the electors of the age-restricted Senate, began to show the possibility of a future change of the Italian government leadership. All minor parties lost a lot of votes to the DC in the attempt to fight the Communist progress: between them, historic Italian Liberal Party was nearly annihilated.

The June 1988 Haitian coup d'état took place on 20 June 1988, when Henri Namphy overthrew Leslie Manigat. Manigat, who won the military-controlled Haitian presidential election, 1988, had taken office on 7 February. On 14 June 1988, a number of military reassignments were made by Henri Namphy, including transferring Colonel Jean-Claude Paul to army headquarters and making him Assistant Head of the General Staff. Paul telephoned President Leslie Manigat to protest the move, and the following day Manigat issued a statement cancelling the changes, and saying that he, as constitutional head of the army, had not been consulted.

A bomb explosion occurred at the shrine of Ali al-Ridha, the eighth Imam of Shia, on 20 June 1994 at 14:26 in a crowded prayer hall. To maximize the amount of the causalities, the explosion day was timed to be coincident with Ashura, one of the holiest days for Shia muslims, when hundreds of pilgrims had gathered to commemorate the death of their third Imam, Husayn ibn Ali. The attack left at least 25 dead and more than 70 (200, 300 and over 200) injured. The bomb was equivalent to 10 pounds of TNT, according to experts.
