1266 — Battle of Benevento
The Battle of Benevento was a major medieval battle fought on 26 February 1266, near Benevento in present-day Southern Italy, between the forces of Charles I of Anjou and those of King Manfred of Sicily. Manfred's defeat and death resulted in Charles' conquest of the Kingdom of Sicily, effectively ending the rule of the Hohenstaufen dynasty in the Italian Peninsula and marking the rise of the royal Capetian House of Anjou. The engagement was part of the conflict which pitted Guelphs against Ghibellines.

1469 — Battle of Vilémov
Battle of Vilémov was a military clash between the Bohemian army under the command of the Bohemian King George of Poděbrady and the Hungarian army as part of the Crusade campaign led by the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus within the framework of the Bohemian-Hungarian Wars. It took place on 26 February 1469, in the vicinity of the village of Vilémov and ended with the encirclement of Corvinus' army in the valley of the river Doubrava, after which the two monarchs met and talked in Úhrov averting a direct clash of troops.

The Battle of Hisar Firoza took place in Hisar, in the state of Haryana, India between Zahir-ud-din Muhammad Babur and Hamid Khan on 26 February 1526. Babur with his son Humayun clashed against the Afghans under the command of Hamid Khan. It was the first battle of Humayun and he was only eighteen years old back then. Humayun had a significant victory against Hamid Khan in the battle of Hisar Firoza.

1846 — Battle of Gdów
The Battle of Gdow (Polish language: Bitwa pod Gdowem) took place on February 26, 1846 near Gdow, Free City of Krakow. It was the only battle of the Krakow Uprising: a 380-strong rebel unit commanded by Jakub Suchorzewski was defeated by a 480-strong Austrian Army detachment under Ludwig von Benedek. The Austrians were supported by some 500 local peasants (see Galician slaughter). Rebel losses were estimated at 154 killed in action, while Austrian losses were negligible. After the Krakow Uprising had begun, an Austrian detachment under Colonel Ludwig von Benedek left Tarnów, heading towards Krakow.

Aeroflot Flight 315 was a scheduled passenger flight from Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow, Soviet Union, to Kyiv-Zhuliany Airport in Kyiv, Ukraine, with a stopover at Lviv Airport in Lviv, Ukraine. On 26 February 1960, the Antonov An-10 flying this route crashed short of the airport runway while on final approach. 24 passengers and eight crew members were killed, one passenger survived.

1978 — Senegalese general election, 1978
General elections were held in Senegal on 26 February 1978 to elect a President and National Assembly. Following a constitutional amendment in 1976, the elections were open to more than one party for the first time since 1963. President Léopold Sédar Senghor of the Socialist Party (formerly the Senegalese Progressive Union) was challenged by Abdoulaye Wade of the Senegalese Democratic Party, but won with 82% of the vote. In the National Assembly election, the Socialist Party won 82 of the 100 seats. Voter turnout was 63.5% in the presidential election and 62.6% in the parliamentary election ().

A regional election was held in the Basque Country on 26 February 1984 to elect the 2nd Parliament of the autonomous community. All 75 seats in the Parliament were up for election. 1991 — Battle of Al Busayyah
The Battle of Al Busayyah was a tank battle fought just in the pre-dawn darkness on February 26, 1991, during the Persian Gulf War, between armored forces of the United States Army and those of the Iraqi Army. The battle is named after the Iraqi town of Al Busayyah, which sat at a critical crossroads and was an Iraqi Army stronghold. The town consisted of forty to fifty buildings, most located along one main north-south road. It was defended by a battalion-sized Iraqi infantry unit reinforced by T-55 tanks, armored personnel carriers, and elements of an Iraqi commando battalion.

The approximately 1,500-pound (680 kg) urea nitrate–hydrogen gas enhanced device was intended to make the North Tower collapse onto the South Tower, taking down both skyscrapers and killing tens of thousands of people.

The 2023 More Europe leadership election was a congressional primary election that took place on 24, 25, and 26 February 2023 in Rome to elect the new party leadership. As a result of an agreement between long-time Radical activist Riccardo Magi and the former mayor of Parma, Federico Pizzarotti, the former was elected unopposed as secretary, and the latter was elected President of the party.

The 2023 EFL Cup final was the final of the 2022–23 EFL Cup. It was played between Manchester United and Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium in London on 26 February 2023. This was Newcastle's first final since the 1999 FA Cup final, in which Manchester United defeated them 2–0. Newcastle were aiming to end one of the longest trophy droughts in English football, with their last major honour being the 1968–69 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
